My Fair Lady First Movie Review
Wednesday, July 16, 2014
Alright, I have decided to watch all Miss Hepburn's movies *dedicated!*. I will also give movie review on each of them. The first movie I have watched is My Fair Lady. The movie I actually found and downloaded from YouTube (okay here is the link http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0wBX0-JIkN0). It is not the exact link that I downloaded from. The original link may have been removed from YouTube or sort of. I really couldn't find it anymore. The movie I downloaded has the english subtitle in it. The new one I give to you all doesn't have so you may need to download yourself if needed. (P.S. The youtube link may be removed in the future as well so if you want to watch it I suggest to QUICKLY download now!). Since this was the first Audrey Hepburn's movie, I was so excited to watch.
My Fair Lady, starring Audrey Hepburn and Rex Harrison, was a 1964 American musical film adaptation. The story was placed in London, England. Eliza Doolittle (Audrey Hepburn) was a poor flower girl who could not pronounce English properly. She met and was scolded by an arrogant cranky Professor Henry Higgins (Rex Harrison) who honored English language very much. His typical line was "Why can't the English learn to speak?". According to him, the accent and tone of people voice could determine their class in society. He bragged to a new friend of him, Colonel Hugh Pickering, that in six months he could teach and change the flower girl himself that he could pass her off as a duchess in an embassy ball or even get her job as a lady maid or shop assistant. Eliza did of course have dream to work in a flower shop but she was rejected because of her thick accent. Hence, the next day she showed up at the professor's house to ask for his English lesson. Incapable of paying the high lesson fee, Pickering offered to pay for her and challenged Higgins and the bet was on.
Basically, i love the story plot whereby it teaches us the importance of speaking English properly to get acknowledge in society or you can be an elegant high class lady even though you are not. One of my favorite song in the movie is "Wouldn't be it loverly?", sang by Audrey Hepburn herself. In the first thought, I spot the weirdness of the word "loverly" instead of "lovely" but it is cute though and it has made me addicted to say it. Loverly... Loverly... Loverly...Loverly...Loverly... It's fun to say! Still, I give thumbs up for the song. It is very loverly.
The best funny scene in the movie is when Eliza was forced to bath with the maid's help. The maid was like "Take your clothes off" and Eliza was like "NOOOOOooooo! Take your hands off me!". She was screaming and struggling. I feel you girl. If it was me, I wouldn't let anyone to give me bath as well. I can take care of myself, lady!
So, she had changed in appearance wise. Taaddaaaaaaaaaa.........
The best outfit of the movie is the ball gown. Audrey Hepburn is so elegant on it. She looks like the princess of somewhere nation, doesn't she? Look how enchanting and loverly the dress is *see how my loverly addiction". I also love the red cloak she wore.
Other dresses in the movies. The vintage-smart looking outfits here are very loverly!

At the end, it is a love story after all. I don't want to spoil the story here. My most favorite outfit in this movie is outfit number 2 and 4, the vintage-smart because it is casual and you can wear it anywhere. Besides, the outfit gives inspiration on how to wear modern vintage nowadays.
Question of the day:
What is your favorite outfit in this movie and why? Kindly share your thought :)
Thank you.
